“You’ve Been a Friend”- Merry Christmas

December 16, 2009

The title of the post today is a Jesus and Mary Chain track off of Stoned and Dethroned.  I’ll finish off tonight’s set with it, and it goes out to KRUI (who I’ve seen transition through a couple of different stations), the DJ’s I’ve met there, and the music I’ve learned about from volunteering at “Iowa City’s Sound Alternative” for the past 6 years.  It’s my last show tonight at KRUI, and the majority of it will be the Christmas Show.  The last 30 minutes or so will be a couple of favorite tracks that express how I feel about leaving the station and Iowa City. Listen in at 89.7 fm KRUI or online here from 8 to 10pm.

Here’s an old picture of me in the station when I used to have a show from 12 to 2am on Wednesday nights:

“Catherine de Barra, you’ve murdered my thinking…”

August 12, 2009

This is one of my all time favorite PJ Harvey songs, I love how angry/sad it is and how she expresses her rage or envy for another person. Whenever I feel some sort of angst, this song always hits the spot.

I’m on again tonight, and it’s the last show of the summer semester. Hopefully, I’ll be on next semester again at a similar time, but for now here’s some of my set. Listen in from 8 to 10 pm at KRUI 89.7 fm or online here.
