“You’ve Been a Friend”- Merry Christmas

The title of the post today is a Jesus and Mary Chain track off of Stoned and Dethroned.  I’ll finish off tonight’s set with it, and it goes out to KRUI (who I’ve seen transition through a couple of different stations), the DJ’s I’ve met there, and the music I’ve learned about from volunteering at “Iowa City’s Sound Alternative” for the past 6 years.  It’s my last show tonight at KRUI, and the majority of it will be the Christmas Show.  The last 30 minutes or so will be a couple of favorite tracks that express how I feel about leaving the station and Iowa City. Daydreaming days in a daydream nation…

1. I’m going to start with a live version of Sonic Youth’s Hyperstation off of the reissued Daydream Nation Box set. This album first came out in 1988, and was Sonic Youth’s fifth album.

This week I’m going to be featuring Matador Records. I just bought the eternal by sonic-youth which they released on matador after leaving Geffen. I also have been listening to the compilation matador put out in 2004, Matador at 15. It is Awesome.
