“You’ve Been a Friend”- Merry Christmas

The title of the post today is a Jesus and Mary Chain track off of Stoned and Dethroned.  I’ll finish off tonight’s set with it, and it goes out to KRUI (who I’ve seen transition through a couple of different stations), the DJ’s I’ve met there, and the music I’ve learned about from volunteering at “Iowa City’s Sound Alternative” for the past 6 years.  It’s my last show tonight at KRUI, and the majority of it will be the Christmas Show.  The last 30 minutes or so will be a couple of favorite tracks that express how I feel about leaving the station and Iowa City. I’m still thinking about this, and still have to go through my pile of CDs. But, these were damn good years for music. My Bloody Valentine came out with both Loveless and Isn’t Anything during this 4 year period. PJ Harvey’s first album Dry also came out, and then of course there’s Superchunk’s No Pocky for Kitty, Fugazi’s Repeater and Pavement’s Slanted and Enchanted. Finally, Lets not forget Nirvana with Bleach and Nevermind. Listen in this Wednesday from 8 to 10pm.
