Lana Del Rey- This is what makes us girls.

November 19, 2012

She keeps popping up in my life. At first I was not into this at all, her smokey voice is getting to me though. The portrait of her on the cover of this album is utterly beautiful. Now I have the urge to go out and buy the whole album.

Sleep Rules Everything

“Wugazi is a labor of love by Cecil Otter & Swiss Andy. A year’s worth of cutting up every imaginable Fugazi record and trying out every Wu-Tang acapella they could get their hands on, resulted in Wugazi: 13 Chambers (a must listen for anyone who even looked at a skateboard in the 90’s).”

Rock me mamma like a wagon wheel…

What a great track from Old Crow Medicine Show. It’s off of their 2004 S/T release and was produced by David Rawlings. The track is cut off at the end, but its such a fun video I still posted it.

Mission of Burma at the Bell House

February 1, 2011

I got to go to Brooklyn NY last weekend and see one of my all time favorite bands, Mission of Burma.  They played at a really nice venue called the Bell House and performed some of my favorite tracks, such as Trem Two (I’ve included this track below). They also let me take a picture with them! So if you get a chance go see this great band, you won’t regret it.  I’ve included some pictures below.

Here’s Roger Miller (guitarist), Clint Conley (bassist) and myself (Heidi Hehnly).
Here’s a couple of them performing:

Keep an Eye on the Sky

December 27, 2010

For Christmas I got a beautiful box set of Big Star called Keep an Eye on the Sky. It has all my favorite tracks on it like The Ballad of El Goodo, What’s Going Ahn, Back of a Car, Jesus Christ, and Thirteen. All these tracks have both the original release and alternate takes. The set comes with a really nice book with great band photos. The best part of the album though is the 4th Disc that includes live tracks from Lafayette’s Music Room in Memphis, TN, which has never been released. Finally it includes a video of the band performing Thirteen. It was released off of Rhino records.

Here’s a picture of the set:
